4 Derry City and Strabane District Council Arts & Culture Strategy

Co Design Meeting Schedule –Second Phase Consultation Sessions

Derry City & Strabane District Council (DCSDC) will coordinate the delivery of an Arts & Culture Strategy for the period 2017 – 2022. The compilation of the strategy will be a co-design process informed by our strategic as well as our local arts and cultural partners.

The Strategy will build upon the legacy of 2013 UK City of Culture by supporting a culture of collaboration and articulating a clear direction of travel for a strong and ambitious arts and culture sector within the North West. The Strategy will reflect and support the ambitions of Council and its partners in the pursuit of world class designations such as European City of Culture status.

Following an initial series of meetings the Co Design team are leading a series of secondary consultation sessions which will focus on:

• agreeing a set of priorities coming out of the discussions at your first meeting
• identifying what actions are needed to achieve those priorities
• who is best placed to take each of those actions
• what will happen as a result

In September, each of these groups will meet for the last time together in a big workshop with all the other sector consultation groups to look at everyone’s priorities and finalise what will be included in the strategy.

You are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions detailed below and your contribution will be very much appreciated.

Please confirm your attendance, detailing the session(s), that you wish to attend by email to colin.coyle@derrystrabane.com

 IOSH Managing Safely

IOSH know that getting people fully involved, having fun and learning by doing is the best way to achieve safety and health training success. We want to get delegates really thinking about what they’re learning – and having the confidence and enthusiasm to put it into practice when they’re back at work – so that everyone notices the difference. Managing safely is unlike any other course. You’ll find a practical programme, full of step-by-step guidance, and with a sharp business focus. But you’ll also find that the highly innovative format and content engages and inspires your staff – critical to getting safety and health embedded across the whole organisation.

Who is Managing safely for?

Managing safely is designed for managers and supervisors in any sector, and any organisation. They won’t suddenly become safety experts – but they’ll get up-to-speed on the practical actions they need to take and gain the knowledge

and tools to tackle the safety and health issues they’re responsible for. Importantly, Managing safely makes the powerful case for safety and health being such an essential part of their job.

Managing safely covers…

- Assessing risks

- Controlling risks

- Understanding responsibilities

- Understanding hazards

- Investigating incidents

- Measuring performance

- Protecting our environment

Successful delegates are awarded an IOSH Managing safely certificate.
