  1. Cancer Charities Grant Scheme for 2025/26

A major £2 million Cancer Charities Grant Scheme for 2025/26 has been unveiled by the Department of Health and Macmillan Cancer Support, boosting community-based cancer services across Northern Ireland.

The grant scheme has been developed through a co-design approach, working in partnership with the Northern Ireland Cancer Charities Coalition.  The £2 million funding package will see the deployment of a new partnership funding model, with £1 million funding provided by the Department of Health and £1 million match-funding provided by Macmillan Cancer Support.

The funding will be offered across two tiers:

  • Tier 1: Grants up to £25,000 for smaller projects (with around £500,000 ringfenced)

  • Tier 2: Grants from £25,001 to £150,000 for larger programmes (with around £1.5 million available)

Eligible organisations must be UK registered charities or not-for-profits operating in Northern Ireland with a clear cancer-related purpose. Funding will support services including mental health support, rehabilitation and prehabilitation, transport services, awareness and education initiatives, and programmes addressing health inequalities.

Applications close on 23 January 2026.

  1. Ideas Fund – Reimaging Research Event

Thursday 4th December at 12:30

We have a great online event coming up with the Ideas Fund, sharing the learning from all of the projects on research – ‘Reimagining Research’. The event will consist of an hour long (12.30-1.30) interactive workshop with guest speakers from the field of community research followed by an optional 30 minute facilitated networking opportunity. We hope people will be able to join for the full 90 minutes (until 2pm) but it is possible to come just for the first hour. We will compile a list of resources and sharing materials through the event and aim to build a mailing list of interested participants.

The organisers hope that the event will prompt new collaborations and ways of bringing together conversations around this theme. It aims not to be a one off sharing event but the first of a new set of collaborative encounters with people who share a vision for a more community-centred approach to researching our shared future.

See link below for more info and to register for the event.

  1. World AIDS Day 2025

This year’s World AIDS Day 2025 (WAD) theme is Prevent to Protect, a powerful message that emphasises both personal responsibility and collective action in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

The campaign highlights & key messages:

  • Prevent to Protect with a focus on prevention strategies as a way to protect yourself and others (condom use, PEP, PrEP, regular testing).

  • Solidarity & Awareness: Since 1988, World AIDS Day has united communities against stigma and discrimination.

  • In 2024:

    • Over 1,439 people in Northern Ireland living with a HIV diagnosis and who had accessed HIV-related care

    • 101 new diagnoses in Northern Ireland.

  • Medical Advances: HIV is no longer a death sentence—people can live long, healthy lives with treatment. People on effective HIV treatment cannot pass on the virus This is known as U=U – an undetectable viral load means the virus is untransmissible

  • Stigma Still Exists: Discrimination persists in workplaces, education, housing, and healthcare.

How can you get involved:

  • Use and share our social media posts from the toolkit to spread awareness.

  • Host community discussions or webinars on prevention and stigma reduction.

  • Encourage testing and education campaigns in local communities.

  • Share personal stories or testimonials to humanize the issue.

The World Aids Day toolkit is live now and it can be accessed through the following pages:

  1. Special School Partnership Training Scoping: C&V sector only

In order to progress the Special School Programme Action plan - Priority 4: Training and upskilling across professions, organisations and sectors,  we are mapping our Community & Voluntary Partner Organisations that provide training related to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEN/D) settings across Northern Ireland.

By 'training' we mean any structured learning offer, including workshops, courses, webinars, accredited modules and coaching.

This training can be any aimed at pupils, parents/carers, school staff or other professional staff

We have created this survey (link below) to collect your feedback to help us understand what’s currently working well, where there are gaps, and how we can build stronger support and learning opportunities for everyone involved. The data will be used to create a database of current training available across N.I.

We would appreciate it if someone in your organisation could take 20mins to complete this survey by the 10th December 2025.
