About Us
At North West Community Network, we work side-by-side with people building fairer, more inclusive communities.
We support community organisations to thrive — sustainably.
We connect communities to resources, and to each other.
And we speak up for communities in government and the media.
Our story so far
North West Community Network was founded in 1994 to grow the capacity of the community and voluntary sector in our region: the city of Derry-Londonderry, Strabane, and the wider North West of Ireland.

We were founded just before the Good Friday Agreement, at a time when grassroots community organisations were a vital part of securing the peace. Our mission then, and now, is to 'connect the dots' of community and voluntary organisations, activating their incredible potential for positive social change.
As a membership organisation, we provide practical advice and support on funding, governance, or strategic planning. We grow our member's professional capacities through skills development in areas like media and social media, safe-guarding, data protection, impact measurement, finance, and more.
We articulate our member's views, and lobby for community interests, in civic forums, consultations, and in the media.
Our people
We're a small team who spend our time building relationships and supporting partner organisations and individuals, backed up by our wonderful executive committee.
