1Heritage Development Trusts capacity building programme
The Heritage Development Trusts capacity building programme is a strategic partnership between the Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF) and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, providing resources to charities and social enterprises to make a positive and lasting impact on heritage in their areas.
Supporting a diverse range of organisations, at different stages of development and with a good geographical spread across the UK, the programme will provide funding and capacity building support to between 10 and 13 Heritage Development Trusts. Support includes Revenue funding of between £55,000 and £70,000 per year, for three years, from January 2024, help from consultants, eligibility to access Project Viability Grants (up to £15k) and Project Development Grants (up to £75k) and mentoring.
Fibrus has launched Round One of their ‘Play It Forward’ 30k Sports Fund’.
Groups can apply for up to 1k in funding for children’s sports projects or initiatives such as new kits, playing/training equipment or improving club facilities.
The Deadline is 27th June 2023
Round 2 will open in October (these dates are subject to change).

The cost of living crisis is far from over, and millions of households are still reporting going without essentials, and falling into debt. The Joseph Rowantree Foundation (JRF) has been tracking the impact that the pandemic and the cost of living crisis have had on the financial position of low-income households over the past 18 months, and in this webinar and report, we will provide an overview of both the financial and health and well-being impacts of the last six months for struggling households.
JRF will be focusing on levels of arrears, debt and the essential items that households are going without, as well as what needs to be done to ensure that those living at the sharp end of this crisis are not going without the basics, or living with deepening debt.

Boardroom Apprentice is a twelve month unique board learning, development and placement programme which enables those who would like to serve on a public or third sector board to learn and gain experience in a safe way before they take that step.

7 Incorporating Rights in NI - Lessons from Scotland & Wales

Join us for this online seminar to explore the advances made in Scotland and Wales to incorporate international human rights treaties and standards into domestic law and what the lessons could be for Northern Ireland in our own journey towards incorporating those same international protections.
In Northern Ireland the primary focus of incorporation has been on adopting a Northern Ireland Bill of Rights via Westminster legislation. Proposals to incorporate the full suite of United Nations human rights treaties ratified by the UK has been a core element of that advocacy. This approach holds wide public support and increasingly majority political support in Northern Ireland, yet the UK Government refuse to deliver that Bill of Rights.
What are the lessons from Scotland and Wales for activism in Northern Ireland. What are the pros and cons of their legislative models of incorporation and how can those lessons be applied in Northern Ireland. Join us for a thought-provoking analysis of the Scottish and Welsh models from academics and activists in both jurisdictions and reflections from local NGO's on what those experiences might mean here.
8Progressing an anti-poverty strategy for NI - A half day seminar
10am to 1pm on Wednesday 28 June 2023 in Room 115, Stormont.
Northern Ireland has been waiting for an anti-poverty strategy for almost twenty years. The 2006 St Andrews Agreement contained a legal obligation for the NI Executive to develop a strategy to tackle poverty, social exclusion, and patterns of deprivation based on objective need. In 2015, following a judicial review taken by CAJ, the High Court found the Executive was acting unlawfully for not having yet adopted such a strategy. Progress was made during the last political mandate, with an expert advisory panel and co-design group established to take forward the development of an anti-poverty strategy. However, the Executive collapsed before the strategy could be implemented.
This joint conference from the Equality Coalition, Barnardo’s NI, and the Northern Ireland Anti-Poverty Network (NIAPN) will examine what progress has so far been made in developing an anti-poverty strategy for NI, while also considering how we can ensure the future strategy is as comprehensive and effective as possible.
Action Mental Health is delighted to have recently launched its new SkillSET programme which is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The project will deliver services across Northern Ireland through a partnership of seven regional and national disability organisations from the voluntary sector, all with vast experience of supporting economically inactive people towards securing sustainable employment.
AMH New Horizons Foyle is now in a position to take referrals for the programme across the Derry/Londonderry area.
To be eligible for the programme a participant must be over 18 and classed as economically inactive.
There are three main aims of the programme for participants:
1. Increasing their skill levels
2. Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing support
3. Taking steps to secure sustainable employment, self-employment, Further Training or secure voluntary work.
As with our previous employment programmes, SkillSET support will be bespoke to the individual, with all participants being assigned an individual Support or Key Worker who will ensure a tailored and flexible approach for all participants.
