1Building Cyber Resilience for Small Organisations
22 January 2020
6:00pm to 8:00pm
Holywell Diverse City Community Partnership
This session will take a practical approach to help trustees and personnel in voluntary and community organisations to build cyber resilience. NICVA has teamed up with industry experts to provide this tailored cyber security session that will focus on the particular challenges that face small voluntary and community organisations.
The session will include:
An overview of current cyber threats
Appropriate risk assessment practices
Practical, low cost, risk-mitigation controls
Signposting to resources and further guidance for boards, staff and volunteers
As our ability to harness technology and digital services for voluntary and community activity grows, so too does the challenge of keeping our organisations safe from cyber fraud and data breaches.
Ensuring that organisations have the resilience to face threats from malicious and indiscriminate cyber-attacks is now imperative for boards and personnel in all sectors.
Email fraud, ransomware attacks and data breaches are risks for all organisations regardless of size or sector. Local playgroups or sports clubs through to international household name charities are all vulnerable. Ensuring that we keep information about the people we work with secure is a top priority. In addition, preventing fraud and complying with regulatory requirements such as GDPR are key organisational governance issues.
Charities and voluntary organisations have an added challenge in terms of the tendency for being open and transparent about activities and finances, holding sensitive personal data, managing organisations with limited resources and an expectation to focus resources on front line services rather than back office services.
Improve your awareness of cyber security threats and help your organisation improve its cyber resilience. Please note that refreshments will be available from 5.45PM.

Quality Standards for Promoting Mental and Emotional Wellbeing and Suicide Prevention
The Public Health Agency, with support from the CLEAR Project, has designed quality standards for services promoting mental and emotional wellbeing and suicide prevention. The Standards can be downloaded from http://bit.ly/MHstandards
There are three main areas of the standards:
Setting minimum standards to strengthen services, practice and improve outcomes for service users.
Improving governance arrangements and improve the way in which service providers across all sectors manage their business.
Improving the way in which service providers are held to account for the services they provide.
The standards are the essential level of quality, to ensure safe and effective practice, against which performance can be measured. They will be used to measure quality by providing a framework to assess your organisation or service against.
One-to-one sessions - Do you want to increase your understanding of the standards?
If yes, then why not book on a one-to-one session which will help you to reflect on how your organisation has completed the standards worksheets and the evidence provided. Groups attending the one-to-one session are encouraged to download and start to complete the evidence worksheet prior to the session.
Booking is essential for one-to-one session to get your time slot. To book please complete the form below and return to admin@dhcni.com

This February, Focus on Family will be offering a new course on Indian Head Massage. The classes start on Monday 3rd February 2020 from 5.30pm-7.30pm and run every Monday thereafter for 8 weeks.
These classes are 8 evenings of enjoyment and pure relaxation. In today’s rapid society, due to jobs, family, illness or personal problems, many people experience high stress levels which have a negative effect on them and over time, will take their toll. Why not allow yourself some ‘me-time’ and join us at Focus on Family where you can relax, enjoy the very easy learning and receive a wonderful treatment before leaving renewed in mind and body. Definitely not to be missed! Unfortunately, there are limited places, so it is a first come, first served basis.
With relaxed lighting in a warm and comfortable room, music is softly played while participants sit on a chair. Your partner in the class then massages your upper back, shoulders and neck before moving on to the head. Everyone will be taught different movements to ensure the head is massaged and tension is released. While you are sitting having this done your feet are in a basin of warm water with fresh Ginger and Epson Salts. Then each foot is taken, dried and the lower leg and foot is massaged with Aromatherapy oil. An experience not to be missed!! The beauty of this class is that each participant gains the wonderful benefits of Indian Head Massage while learning how to deliver this amazing treatment for others.
Everything you need for the class is provided - towels, changing screens and gowns. In addition, all the aromatherapy oils are provided. These are especially made by our fully trained therapist to produce calmness and relaxation in the body and mind and to help relieve stress, tension and anxiety. The class is highly rated by many who have attended in the past. Everyone who comes along works at their own pace and there is no pressure on anyone to learn, moreover the main aim of the class is enjoyment and relaxation. For those wanting to develop skills, everything is made very simple and easy to follow and every movement of the treatment will be clearly explained as you work.
Please note this is a non-accredited class and can only be performed on family members, friends, partners, etc.
The total cost of this 8 week class is just £40.00 and the full amount must be paid to reserve your place.
Contact Catherine on 0779 313 1094 for more information or to book your place.
On Saturday 1st February 2020, Pilots Row Community Centre will host to the 4th annual Radical Bookfair at it’s Rossville Street home in Derry.
Organisers of the annual community project have confirmed that the Bogside venue will host one of the largest number of independent radical press, book sellers, publishers and distributors from the length of Ireland with participants travelling from Scotland, England and Wales for the one day event.
A spokesperson for the Derry Radical Bookfair said “We are delighted to once again confirm that we are able to add the Derry Radical Bookfair to the city’s political calendar after previous successful book fairs. The day long event receives a fantastic response to from the city itself and across the northwest as it is able to provide easy access literature not normally found in usual bookshops and outlets.
The radical book fair is an important event which gives a great opportunity to independent booksellers and publishers due to the availability to network and create links and new important contacts.
“We welcome everyone to the Radical Bookfair with different political visions, ideas, practices and radical traditions. We pride ourselves in creating a space for books of local, national and international interests including social and labour history as well as themes covering radical feminism, queer liberation, anarchism, marxism, republicanism and environmentalism. It is also a day in which a number of campaign groups have the opportunity to table stalls so as to highlight ongoing concerns such as human rights, environmental and social justice issues.
“This year we will be continuing with a series of book launches as well as several talks throughout the event which will again add to the overall community spirit that the book fair has created within a venue such as Pilots Row. For many the event ties in well with the week long events leading up the the annual Bloody Sunday March for Justice.”
Derry Radical Bookfair takes place on Saturday 1st February 2020 from 12pm until 5pm at the Pilots Row Community Centre in Rossville Street.

Are you planning any conferences, seminars or similar type meetings in the New Year? Then Pin Boards might be just what you're looking for! Pin Boards bring that extra special dynamic to your meeting, conference, seminar or event.
Pin Boards are an invaluable multi-purpose tool for supporting meetings, workshops, exhibitions, conferences, training programmes and seminars. They are free-standing and support your group needs especially when space and time is at a premium and seeing 'the bigger picture' is necessary by offering a panoramic view not afforded by the humble flipchart which also helps to encourage greater input from staff and volunteers.
Pin Boards are lightweight, mobile, flexible, durable, easily transportable and environmentally friendly. They have a wide variety of use, are lighter than most flipchart stands yet can hold up to four times the capacity allowing you to reference both current and previous notes at the same time rather than wasting time searching back and forth through numerous pages.
Pin Boards can be used as room dividers by creating a multitude of break-out space and can be adapted for 'Visual Harvesting' (Graphic Facilitation). They also act as a substitute for wall mounts ensuring no damage to venue through the use Blue-Tac or sticky tape and thus help to reduce costs of materials. Each board comes with fold-back clips, protective cover and pins.
Pin Boards are available for hire to groups, organisations and businesses across the voluntary, statutory and corporate sectors. We will deliver the boards to your setting, set them up and return to collect them. You can hire the boards for as long as you want and there are no hidden costs - you pay per board per session, e.g., one session equates to a morning, an afternoon or an evening.
