The PEACE PLUS programme is inviting applications for seven funding calls. As part of this process there is a PEACE PLUS Roadshow in Waterside Shared Village on Thursday 22nd June at 11am. Join the team to find out more.
The Pressure Group Fund has been established in recognition of the contribution groups and people in our society, who are working towards supporting social change, can make through direct civic action, lobbying and campaigning.
Applications are invited for projects that can demonstrate how they are trying to address social injustice and what the impact of their work will be. In particular how they will encourage civic action, working with groups and individuals to get their voices heard by decision-makers.

Every three months, we’ll share £15,000 between 5 shortlisted projects that have a positive impact on communities, people or the environment.
Your application must be on behalf of a local community group, charity, voluntary group or social enterprise that has a positive impact on communities, people or the environment and has an average income of less than £50,000 in the last 12 months.
We want to make it easy for very small charities or new community interest companies to apply, so organisations/groups do not need to be a registered charity, however, you will need to have a bank account in your organisation’s/project’s name such as a community bank account.
Applications will close for the October round on 15th September.

Family Fund provides a wide range of grants to families living in Northern Ireland raising a disabled or seriously ill child, or young adult, on a low income.
Whether you need a kitchen appliance like a fridge, cooker or washing machine; clothing and bedding; sensory or play equipment; technology for your child, or a much-needed family break, we are here to help.
Families in Northern Ireland can apply for a Family Fund grant every 24 months. You can apply if:
you’re the main carer for a disabled or seriously ill child aged 17, or younger
you have been resident in Northern Ireland for at least six months
you have a low income from working, or benefits

The Northern Ireland Policing Board is launching its Human Rights Review of Privacy and Policing on 5th July 2023.
You are invited to attend the launch from 10:30 am - 12:30pm at the Policing Board, James House, The Gasworks.
The launch will feature a panel discussion on key issues such as biometric collection, surveillance, governance frameworks and data ethics with the Board’s Independent Human Rights Advisor John Wadham, Independent Board Member Les Allamby, ACC Mark McEwan and Prof Fraser Sampson, Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner.

7DFI Focus Group on Proposed Changes to Concessionary Fares
DFI are holding a Focus Group on Proposed Changes to Concessionary Fares as part of their Public Consultation and regional engagement.
This will be held on Friday 23rd June from 2-3.30pm in Harbour House, Derry. Places are limited and the focus group is aimed at individuals rather than organisations.
The Clear Project, supported by the Public Health Agency, offers a range of training and development opportunities for Community and Voluntary groups based in the Western Trust area. These address the themes of Suicide Prevention, Self-harm, Drugs and Alcohol Misuse.
To ensure that the Clear Project is meeting the required training needs and providing development opportunities for groups, we ask you to take a few minutes to complete the survey.
It is with great sadness and regret that I write and inform you of the closure of School Employer Connections (SEC) on 30th June 2023 after providing, in conjunction with many employers, almost 25 years of business education services to the local and regional post-primary schools community.
At the end of March 2023 our core funder the Department of Education advised they would no longer provide core funding for SEC’s services due to departmental financial pressures. This funding was required to meet approximately 80% of our running costs and we have been unable to find a suitable replacement funding stream in such a short period of time despite an exhaustive search and many applications to funding sources – all of whom have been over-run by applications as more and more charitable organisations like SEC were notified that their funding from Central Government had been or was to be cut.
In addition, since 2010 SEC has valiantly been existing on much the same financial budget whilst year on year delivering its quality service to schools, employers and students. Our financial situation was further intensified by the cost of living/inflation crisis making it increasingly more and more difficult for SEC to survive. While we would have worked to somehow meet these inflationary pressures, we have been denied the opportunity of trying due to the cut in our core funding by the Department.
Regarding student work experience placements arranged by SEC for June, these are still proceeding as planned.
For student work placements arranged and scheduled for July to October 2023, SEC will be in contact with you or your staff during June to discuss what is required to enable these placements / activities to proceed under your supervision and management.
We wish to thank you for your support throughout the past 24 years knowing that together we made a difference to the lives of many thousands of young people and only wish that we were able to continue to provide our services in careers, employability and work-related learning to young people to enable them to make important career path decisions and create better futures for themselves and society.
Emerging from The Playhouse's Artitude: Climate, Culture and Circularity project, the festival is part of a unique and transformational programme of activity, using the arts and creative practice to engage communities in the DCSDC area in exploring climate action and the circular economy, with a view to encouraging positive behavioural change.

14Action Mental Health - Summer Scheme Activities Programme
Action Mental Health have programmes which may be of interest to anyone running a Summer Scheme this year. These inputs are a programme of fun activities, lasting 90+ minutes, based around the ‘Five Steps to Well-being’ Approach. The programme can be delivered to young people 4 – 11 years; and 11 to 14 years.
16Bishop Street Studios' Summer Exhibition And Open Studio Tour
The Bishop Street Studios 'Summer Exhibition' will launch at the Urban Arts Gallery on Friday 23rd June.
UV Arts, in partnership with the Inner City Trust, welcomes the studio collective, who are located in studios above Henderson Music Shop, directly across the road from the gallery at The Garden of Reflection on Bishop Street Within.
On the launch night visitors to the exhibition will also get the rare opportunity to experience a studio tour, when the participating artists will be opening their front door at 11 Bishop Street and welcoming visitors into their personal work spaces also.
The participating artists are Patsy Brennan, Deirdre Doherty, Brian Farrell, Kevin Horgan, Janet Hoy, Anneliese Macmillan Gregg, Amanda Walker.
Original members of the studio group came together during the City of Culture, and following that year managed to secure for themselves a base on Bishop Street, when all other subsidised visual arts studios were closed down. Creative Village Arts (a local visual arts charity) has managed to keep these studios going through its voluntary efforts, to ensure that Derry-based visual artists have a presence and an impact in the city. UV-Arts and Creative Village Arts think it’s very important to support and champion our own artists, especially in this most difficult financial climate, to ensure that culture is generated locally and reflects local sensibilities, and not only survives but thrives.
This Summer Exhibition coincides with UV Arts program “The Roots Project”, an international urban art outreach program that brings a host of street artists with deep rooted connections and heritage from the North-West and surrounding areas to the gallery and city but also with the aim of highlighting local traditional artists right on our doorstep, and celebrate the local rich and vibrant artistry in our community along with the connections beyond.
The Launch of the Exhibition will take place on the Friday 23rd of June at 7pm - 9pm with some beverages and light refreshments.
The UV Art Gallery is open to the public on Wednesday through Saturday 11am - 5pm. The exhibition runs until 8th July 2023. And Admission is Free.

You could travel through space in the box, or surf the big waves,Do you remember the excitement when you didn’t know what was inside, and you could hardly wait to open it to find out? What’s in the box?
Join experienced professionals of Echo Echo Ensemble for a week of dance and movement for primary school ages! The course will run from 3rd-7th July, from 10am-1pm daily. It is suitable for kids aged 5-11 (the youngest should at least have completed P1).
In our kind and playful environment kids will spend time dancing, playing, storytelling and engaging in arts and crafts.
The Quirky Corner charity shop opened in Quayside shopping centre Strand Road in March this year. The shop was set up, staffed, and managed by HURT addiction centre 14 Clarendon Street, Derry. All proceeds of the shop are used to provide free intervention and treatments for individuals and family members impacted by substance misuse.
We would really appreciate your support in providing any donations for the shop that you may have accumulated as a result of surplus equipment or clothing left on your premises that will not be claimed.
We particularly welcome donations of clothing such as coats, hats, etc.
Suitcases, foot wear (pairs) umbrellas any other clean reusable items other than night wear and underwear.
We would be glad to also accept surplus small items of furniture or good quality equipment surplus to your business needs.
Donated items can be left in the charity shop: Quirky Corner Unit 20 Quayside shopping Centre, Strand Road, Derry (next door to Tesco’s).
