Inside Out Youth Leader Opportunity

Inside Out is looking to recruit 16-20 young leaders aged 18 and over (from in and around the Derry Londonderry area) to be its representatives on a new and exciting project that promises to offer unique experiences in a number of European countries including Germany, Finland and Austria.

In partnership with ELT (Vienna), ISIS (Berlin) and Youth Department (Helsinki), Inside Out wants to recruit young leaders to take part in The PoP (Paths of Participation) Project (www.pop-project.eu).

The PoP project seeks to support the integration of young people with fewer opportunities living in suburban areas in Europe.  The project will exchange Models of Best Practice in Youth Work through a number of different activities including seminars and week-long job shadow experiences.

The project promises to offer unique learning experiences and is designed for young people who are currently volunteering or working in a youth setting or who have expressed an interest in developing a career in youth work.

Please see attached for all details and contact information - Closing date is 4 July.

Icon Painting Course

North West Group of the Association of Iconographers of Ireland in association with  The Playhouse:

Friday 4th July - Friday 11th July 2007, Icon Painting Course St. Columb's Hall, Derry

Tutors Dick Sinclair and Sr. Aloysius McVeigh

Following on from a very successful course Icon Painting Course in 2007 The Playhouse is very pleased to announce that we will be hosting another course, given by the North West Group of the Association of Iconographers of Ireland this year. The course will run in St. Columb's Hall, which is situated adjacent to Derry's Historic City Walls, at Newmarket Street.  This temporary move of The Playhouse to St Columb’s Hall provides an opportunity for our premises in Artillery Street to be completely renovated.  The Icon Painting Course will be the first major Art event in our new premises and it is particularly apt that this course should be concerned with sacred art.

Sr. Aloysius and Dick will be sharing the methods of creating an icon in a traditional Byzantine manner as taught by the distinguished contemporary Greek Iconographer Eva Vlavianos.  Complete beginners will work on an icon of the head of Our Lady. There will be a range of models available for advanced students to work from.

If you are interested in attending please ring Angela Mc Cleary, daytime, on 077 1255 68888 or Brid Mc Cauley, evening, on 077 8908 1985, for details and enrolment.

Thinking can be bad for your health (sometimes)!

Do you worry, are you anxious, stressed? Do you have negative repetitive thought processes? Are you living in the past? or for the future?

This four session programme continues with two sessions facilitated by experienced community facilitator, Anne Meehan, who warmly welcomes new people.

Each session provides opportunities for participants to investigate their relationship with their own thinking.

These final two sessions are inspired by the challenging work of Eckhart Tolle.

Dates: 17th and 30th  June

Time : 10am -12 noon

Cost:  £10 for 2 taster sessions
