Public Meeting for Community Activists, Representatives & General Public, 8pm, Wed 16th April 08 (Guildhall, Derry~Londonderry)

An open invitation is being issued by Sinn Féin to a public meeting in Derry’s Guildhall to community activists, representatives of the community & voluntary sector and the wider population.

Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the April 1998 Good Friday Agreement, this event is for people to raise issues and concerns with local representatives and Government Ministers and marries with the party’s aim to make government more accessible.

In working to ensure equality for especially the marginalised and neglected in society,  Sinn Féin representatives said: “Your sector and the people you work with and represent are a vital constituency that we need to hear from and listen to.”

The opportunity is being out there for anyone to come along and put questions, make suggestions, lobby and influence on behalf of those we represent.

Attendance will include:

Gerry Adams MP MLA Sinn Féin President, Martin McGuinness MP MLA Deputy First Minister, Caitriona Ruane MLA Minister for Education, Martina Anderson MLA Policing Board Member, Raymond McCartney MLA, Bairbre de Brun MEP and Donegal County Councillor Padraig McLochhlainn.

Legacy of the Troubles Research Project

Researchers from the departments of Psychology at the University of Limerick and Queens University Belfast are conducting a major research project entitled “The Legacy of the Troubles”.

The study is investigating the experience people have had of the troubles in Northern Ireland and the border counties of the Republic. It looks at how the troubles have influenced people's lives and their views of the community to which they belong and the ‘other’ community.

One core area of the research involves interviews with individuals with differing levels of experience of the troubles. The interviewers ask questions about living in Northern Ireland and the border counties during the troubles and about the ways that people coped with the stresses from those times up to the current day. It you know anybody who would be interested in taking part in these interviews, which should last about an hour, please contact Alison Jeffrey in the School of Psychology, Queen's University Belfast:
