Big Lottery’s Safe and Well Programme

Omagh District Council in partnership with the four other Councils in the West (Fermanagh, Strabane, Derry and Limavady) and the Western Health Action Zone has successfully progressed to Stage 2 of the Big Lottery’s Safe and Well Programme to develop an initiative to reduce home accidents, fuel poverty, fear of crime and to improve the physical and mental health and well being of >65s and families with children <5.  A business plan will be prepared for this initiative over the coming months and if successful at Stage 2 the project will be on the ground by May 09.  A steering group is currently being established to take this initiative forward.

To ensure we reach the most vulnerable in our communities and to develop capacity within communities to address the key issues within the initiative we need local community representatives to participate in the planning, development and roll out of this initiative.  We are seeking 5 representatives in total, 1 from each District Council area, who have a proven track record working with/for their local community.

If you are interested please complete the attached expression of interest form and return to Colette Brolly by Friday, 11 July 2008.
