‘Ending Hate in our Communities’ Training for Trainers programme
3rd- 5th September 2008 Lusty Beg Island INCORE, as part of its Diversity In Action project is organising its third ’Training for Trainers’ residential. Northern Ireland, as in other parts of the UK, has been experiencing increased immigration of people from Eastern Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere. Most native born people have welcomed the new arrivals. However, others have responded with bias, harassment and violence. Immigrants are not the only group to experience bias, harassment and hate crimes. Members of the Traveller, Jewish, gay and lesbian community have also been targeted with hate. In order to help these groups build capacity and develop the skills required to deal with bias and harassment, INCORE in collaboration with Steve Wessler from the Center for the Prevention of Hate Violence (CPHV), is hosting its third 2 and a half day residential to prepare two-person teams to conduct hate crime prevention workshops in their own communities. Participants will consist of community practitioners and district council community relations officers. If you are interested and wish to apply for a place, please contact Roisin O’Hagan, INCORE on 028 71 375523 or email r.ohagan@ulster.ac.uk. It is advisable to apply soon, as places are limited. Workshop participants will be responsible for their travel to and from the training. |

Buy it, sell it, donate it – eBay for Charity
eBay for Charity is an easy way for buyers and sellers on eBay.co.uk to support their favorite charities. Buyers can shop for items knowing they’re supporting a good cause, be it an everyday bargain or a special auction. Sellers, whether they’re individuals or businesses, can donate a percentage from any sale to a charity of their choice and add Gift Aid to their donations. Charities can also sell their own items directly on eBay.co.uk. Local charities are getting involved in the scheme. For example, the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland has created an eBay for charity page at http://donations.ebay.co.uk/charity/charity.jsp?NP_ID=23756, where you can sell your unwanted goods and raise funds for the charity. eBay for Charity allows you to list an item on eBay and donate up to 100% of the final sale price to charity. Find out more about eBay for Charity at http://pages.ebay.co.uk/ebayforcharity/index.html. |
