Unite against Hate campaign launched

This campaign will challenge the prejudices which if left unchecked, can result in Hate Crimes.  This campaign will provide opportunities for ordinary people to demonstrate their opposition to the mindless minority who carry out Hate Crimes. The campaign will highlight all six forms of hate crime, homophobic, racist, sectarian, faith, disablist and transphobic and challenges everyone in Northern Ireland to unite to stop it.

Over the coming months, the public will have the chance to show their support for the campaign by participating in a range of diversity events. A number of organisations including the Irish Football Association, Gaelic Athletic Association, Belfast Festival at Queen’s and Culture Night Belfast, have already pledged support for the campaign.

To support or find out further details about the campaign and planned events, look up www.uniteagainsthate.org.uk.

Come Celebrate The International Day For Peace Monday 21st September @ Cafe Del Mondo

Guildhall Square, Derry, 2pm to 5pm

Music-food-poetry-readings-and supporting the call for an end to all conflicts and the promotion of a universal culture of justice.

The United Nations' International Day of Peace - marked every year on September 21 - is a global holiday when individuals, communities, nations and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace. Established by U.N. resolution in 1982, "Peace Day" has grown to include millions of people around the world who participate in all kinds of events, large and small.
Each year, events take place all around the world for the International Day of Peace. Every Peace Day event provides an opportunity to inspire individuals and empower communities to celebrate victories for peace that have been won throughout the year, and to rededicate our commitment to work for a more peaceful, just and sustainable world all year long. A Peace Day event can be as simple as lighting a candle or meditate on Peace on September 21. It can be as complex as organizing a Peace Concert for thousands of people. In between, there is a whole scale of events on different levels that might fit your family, group, class, or community. Please join in and celebrate this important day.

If you want to read something on the day please bring a copy with you and the floor is yours for 5 minutes.... a poem, extract, prose it's your call... as long as it reflects the ethos of the day...you are welcome.... so... Be seen. Be visible.

Views sought from motorcyclists into roads safety issues

Motorcyclists across Northern Ireland are invited to participate in research into the main causes and influencing factors contributing to motorcycle collisions.
This research will allow motorcyclists to input directly into the development of a new road safety strategy due for publication before the end of 2010.
The groundbreaking research has been commissioned by the Department of the Environment (DOE) to help it consider new ways to tackle the number of motorcycling casualties in Northern Ireland.
Motorcyclists can log onto www.motorcyclecasualtiesni.com to complete a short survey which looks at rider attitudes, experience and behaviour on the roads.
