MSc in Executive Leadership & Ready Steady Grow
The MSc in Executive Leadership is an accredited programme that covers eight modules including a Best Practice Study visit to Boston College. This programme has been developed specifically for the community and voluntary sector and is a personal and professional journey to excellence for leading people and organizations. The MSc in Executive Leadership is targeted at individuals in a leadership role within their organizations with higher strategic development needs that are essential for the longer-term legitimacy and sustainability of the third sector. It ensures that practitioners in the sector are exposed to the advantages of leading edge business practices and procedures. The eight modules are topped off with a Dissertation enabling the student to apply the skills and knowledge acquired to paper, culminating in successful students being conferred with an MSc in Executive Leadership at a University of Ulster Graduation Ceremony. The cost of this, highly sought after and prestigious, programme is £6,950. Please note that this programme already has ten interested students so places are limited.
Ready Steady Grow is a pioneering personal and project development programme aimed at Board Members, CEOs and senior managers. The programme is designed to help participants confidently tackle the challenges of significant growth in a rapidly changing environment. It recognizes and addresses the distinct problems that social entrepreneurs face in redirecting their energies from running an existing organization to expanding it or setting up anew enterprises. Ready Steady Grow has been designed to provide structured, relevant support and, crucially, new levels of confidence for social entrepreneurs who are ready to extend their reach and overcome the barriers to growth by strengthening Entrepreneurial behaviour, developing skills and gaining knowledge. The cost of this programme, which takes place over nine months, is £1,950. The School for Social Entrepreneurs is delighted to announce that it has been gifted with some Larry Tolland Memorial bursaries which will take the cost down to £1,300 on this occasion. Any queries, please contact our School for Social Entrepreneurs in Ireland office on 028 9032 8918 |

Irish National Hockey Development Officer Site Visit to Foyle
A visit to the Northwest took place on December 16th to view the facilities suitable for developing the opportunity to learn and play hockey sports for the children, teenagers and adults of the region. Visits were conducted to facilities in Creggan, Magee, Limavady, Strabane and St Columbs Park Limavady Road where synthetic Astroturf playing surfaces currently exist. The visit also served to launch the new club logo for Foyle Hockey Club which will exist to nurture the sport among our youthful and diverse population. Thanks to a support grant from Derry City Council the club managed to fund the development of 5 male coaches for Foyle Hockey Club, who are now available to groups around the area who express an interest in giving hockey a ‘test drive’ What about the future ?... well our club management committee firmly believes that the future of the club needs local kids coming through from voluntary community groups as well as primary & secondary school sectors. Through very positive discussions with area sports development officers and after consideration from Derry City Council, an initiative is being funded to provide this new and exciting opportunity to some primary schools early in ‘09. A mini tournament will then mark the end of this 6 week introduction programme at St Columb’s Park. After this introduction period to hockey within these two sectors it is planned to progress further for the Spring months for 4 hours per week at St Columb’s Park culminating in a ‘Hockey Blitz’ day on June 6th including exhibition games between experienced schoolboys and Premier League men’s teams. Any parents interested in having their kids experience and learn the basics of hockey, particularly of primary school ages, contact 07764 499495 for more information. Also see YouTube – ‘field hockey tricks’ or follow links from the Irish Hockey website. Please note training resumes as before starting Wednesday 7th Jan 6-7pm, Thursdays 8.30-9.30. Discounted for kids groups of over 12 in number. Alan McCague, Mobile - 07764 499495 |
