BUILDING CHANGE TRUST - Community Consultation
10.30 – 12.30, Thursday 24 September 09, St. Columb’s Park House, Derry~Londonderry
NWCN invites those with an interest in helping shape the future landscape for the Community & voluntary sector in NI to this event. Prompt registration is required as interest is expected to be high and places are limited. The event will be of particular interest to individuals/organisations with elements of strategic planning as part of their remit. There has been limited detail thus far on the Building Change Trust – in essence it aims to facilitate the NI Community & Voluntary sector in preparing for and negotiating what is a radically changing environment in the face of factors known and experienced by many of us. Please see the attached flyer for information on the Building Change Trust and the context for this NW Consultation – this has been organised to provide the Community & Voluntary sector in the North-West with the opportunity to influence and inform the objectives and priorities of the Trust in what is a ten-year period of operation. This invitation to attend this workshop is your opportunity to ensure your participation in a strategically important discussion. You are invited to share this invitation with colleagues you feel may have particular interest and/or to display the flyer in your own locations.
RSVP to neola@nwcn.org or call 028 7127 9090 by Wed 16 Sep 09 (lunch provided and event is free of charge). |

The Housing Executive, in partnership with the PSNI, has developed a unique initiative deigned to help people report hate incidents as and when they occur. Working on the basis that people do not carry information leaflets around with them, the Housing Executive has now produced a card which is the same size as a business card and can be carried in a wallet or purse. The card has been produced in nine languages and will be distributed to those groups representing minority ethnic, LGBT and people with disabilities. For further details or copies of the card, contact Frank Mulhern, Community Safety Manager with the Housing Executive |

Age Awareness Week 2009 - 28 September - 3 October
Age Awareness Week celebrates the diversity of older people’s lives, highlights the positive contribution older people make to our society, increases public awareness and understanding of ageing issues and challenges negative attitudes to ageing. This year’s theme of representation will challenge attitudes and practices of how older people are portrayed and represented in society. Older people are experts on ageing issues and through meaningful engagement, debates, creative and innovative thinking, and by recognising the opportunities of an ageing society we can transform negative attitudes, empower older people and create a richer society.
