Do your service users need advice?
Do you want to make sure they get the best advice possible? Free training is available for your organisation to help you: -Provide information to users in response to advice enquiries -Enable users to access advice services -Help users find other sources of advice or information that will be of use to them -Safeguard your users’ confidentiality
We offer this free training, with lunch included, to help local organisations that do not have paid, trained or dedicated information and advice staff. The course is designed to help them provide basic information to service users or signpost them to advice providers. The training is also useful for local organisations; that need to train new employees/volunteers to provide information and signposting to service users. Although the course is organised by Age Concern and Help the Aged, it is relevant to all user groups, not just older people. Sessions will take place in November in Belfast and Derry.

Towards Understanding and Healing is offering a six two-hour storytelling programme including an optional residential experience for people who have been affected by the conflict in Northern Ireland. Our programmes will be of interest to victims and survivors, those working with victims and survivors and anyone wishing to work with them. Storytelling in a safe and secure environment gives people the opportunity to begin to articulate their personal stories and listen to other stories or “truths” in a respectful way and begin to move towards a peaceful future in our community. Story telling programmes are led up by experienced facilitators.
If you are interested in participating in a storytelling session or learning about our facilitation methods, please contact us on 028 7126 7519 Dates and venues can be arranged to suit participating individuals or groups. |

Camara – Computers for Africa
Camara take in used computers, refurbish them and send them to schools in Africa. At present Camara are working in seven countries in Africa: Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia. Camara would like to thank a number of community and voluntary organisations who have recently donated computers, namely Gingerbread and Women’s Resource and Development Group. They are constantly looking to source computers which meet the minimum specification of Pentium 3 Processor, 256 RAM and 20GB hard drive. They are always looking for mice and power leads, as often they receive computers without them. It costs £50 to refurbish and send a computer to Africa so any contribution is most welcome. Camara can organise collection when there are over 10 items of equipment.
