ON NWCN
Background
The North West Community Network is an independent alliance of 190 community
and voluntary organisations. It provides a focus for the diverse cultures,
beliefs, ideas and activities of local people and for the community
and voluntary organisations addressing their needs.
The Network is committed to societal change by fostering the underlying
principles of community development and creating a fully inclusive and
participative democracy. It has built a reputation as an organisation
which makes social and economic policy understandable and meaningful
to groups and which can draw together the diverse ideas within the Sector
in the North-West to form a coherent response to Government and its
agencies.
The North-West Community Network was established in November 1994 following
a series of meetings of community and voluntary organisations throughout
the North-West region of Derry, Londonderry, Strabane, Limavady and
Donegal.
The Executive Committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting to
manage and co-ordinate the Networks activities and development. Membership
of the Executive Committee is for a maximum period of 3 years.
The North-West Community Network draws its membership from all traditions
and cultures irrespective of ethnic background, religious denomination
or political affiliation.

• What is the geographical area covered by the North-West Community
Network?
The Network has members from all areas of County Derry , Limavady Borough
Council area, County Donegal and County Tyrone. The majority of our
members are from Derry~Londonderry . The Network however does not limit
itself to working exclusively with member organisations. We are keen
to support organisations that are based/work in any of the areas listed
above.
• How can the Network support our organisation?
The Network offers a wide range of support to community and voluntary
organisations. This ranges from keeping the sector informed through
our various information channels to delivering face-to-face support
on issues such as funding advice.
• How do I become a member of the North-West Community Network and how
much does it cost?
The cost of joining the Network is currently £10. To become a
member simply complete the membership form (linked on our Homepage and
also in Network Update) or contact the Network office directly by emailing
info@nwcn.org or telephoning (028) 7127 9090.
• What are the advantages of becoming a member of the North-West Community
Network?
The strength of any network lies with its membership. The North-West
Community Network has built a reputation as an organisation which makes

Changing the information displayed on your organisation is a relatively
simple process. You can: contact the Network (by phone or fax) and inform
us of the changes to your details. The information displayed will then
be changed as requested.
• How can I get information on an upcoming event I am involved with
carried in an E-bulletin?
To have information displayed on this site simply click here , complete
the email with all the details of the upcoming event and click on send.
Your information will then be sent to the Network and will be featured
in an E-bulletin shortly afterwards.
