Stories project aims to bring vulnerable people together to look at issues
that arise within their communities.
The project aims to focus on creating an understanding and

upon all who live within the community. The core
objectives of the programme will be channelled through digital story
making. This process will
help develop confidence and self-esteem of all involved and allows them to
build trust, friendships and share communities. The programme aims to build
integration throughout communities whilst also help develop creative

5th
March 2012 at 7.00pm in
the Time IVA
Change Border - Region Alcohol Project Evidence
suggests that the most effective way of dealing with alcohol issues is
through strategic, multi-disciplinary action involving statutory, business
and voluntary sectors. To tackle the current alcohol culture and the
impact of harmful alcohol use on society the North West Alcohol Forum Ltd.
(Letterkenny), Derry Healthy Cities, the Civic Alcohol Forum (Derry) the
DHSSPS and the DoHC gave CAWT their support to make a successful
application to the EU INTERREG IVA programme to develop a community
mobilisation project that would support a process of cultural change on
alcohol utilising the skills, leadership and expertise of existing
agencies in all sectors. Website: www.cawt.com/alcohol
While the
majority of people enjoy alcohol in a moderate and responsible way, misuse
of alcohol has become a serious risk to public health. Alcohol related
offences increased by 30% between 2003 and 2007 and far outweighed illegal
drug related offences by 76,822 to 7,636 in 2003. Alcohol is a
contributory factor in 34% of Domestic violence cases, 46% of all Homicide
perpetrators, 44% cases of interpersonal harm & a Contributory factor
in Suicide (Source: Alcohol Action Ireland) In 2005/09,
Alcohol Related Traffic accidents =1515, Killed = 108, serious injuries =
572, other injuries = 2048. In 2008/09, Alcohol related crime = 6299,
criminal damage =1152 offences against the person = 4247, Sexual offences
= 101, theft = 327, offences against the state = 99 (Source: www.psni.police.uk) This dramatic
increase in alcohol related harms and its negative impact on health,
family life and public order has prompted a variety of organisations to
come together to develop The Time IVA Change Border Region Alcohol
Project. Speeches -

Disability
Action needs your help Hello
everybody – please take a few minutes to read this message and pass it on
– we want to get as many responses to this questionnaire as possible and
the people that you work with or come into contact with may have an
opinion they want to express. We want to try
to identify what factors influence a disabled person’s choice of a
home. This will include certain accessibility features dependant
upon a person’s needs but there are many other factors which influence
where someone wants to live and we want to capture those too.
In the first
instance this is information that we can use to help the Northern Ireland
Housing Executive to shape a new register of accessible/adapted housing,
but it’s also information that policy makers should be made aware of –
that there are other factors equally or more important to disabled people
than the access inside their house. There
are only 5 questions to answer and it should only take a few
minutes – but we will
welcome as much information as you have time to share. The survey is
on survey-monkey at the following link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/accessiblehousingregister It is also on
the Disability Action web-site at: It is
available in alternate formats or to complete over the telephone by
