Personal & Public Involvement (PPI) Community Consultation Events

From 2009 every Health & Social Care Organisation in Northern Ireland has a legal responsibility to implement Personal & Public Involvement (PPI).

North-West Consultation Events:

Wednesday 25 May1.30-3.30pm, Clooney Hall, 36 Clooney Terrace, Waterside, Derry~Londonderry

Wednesday 1 June2-4pm, Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre, 24 Main Street, Limavady

Contact Neola on (028) 7127 9090 / neola@nwcn.org to indicate which event you wish to attend.

What is Personal and Public Involvement?

PPI means “discussing with those who use our services and the public: their ideas, your plans; their experiences, your experiences; why services need to change; what people want from services; how to make the best use of resources; and how to improve the quality and safety of services.

PPI is also about involving local communities or the general population where the issues are of broad public concern or interest, such as, the location or nature of local services.

PPI is about empowering people and communities to give them more confidence and more opportunities to influence the planning, commissioning and delivery of services in ways that are relevant and meaningful to them.

These events provide you in the Community & Voluntary sector, as well as those accessing your own services, with the opportunity to not only learn more about what PPI means in reality, but also to make suggestions and to give response on the developing PPI strategy for the Western Area.

These events will be led by: Paula Cunningham - Head of Service Planning, Western Health & Social Services Trust.

Funds still available for rural websites

Does your rural community group need a website?

Rural Community Network still has some funding available to help your group develop a website under the Rural Websites Project.

The project is aimed at rural groups with no current online presence. The site will be content managed which means designated users can upload any events, news items, photographs or videos. If your group wishes to use facebook, twitter or any other social networking site, then this can also be incorporated.

For further information and to view the sample website, visit www.ruralcommunitynetwork.org and click on Programmes – Rural Websites Project. Alternatively, give Linda or Kathryn a call at Rural Community Network on 028 8676 6670.

Community relations event @ the Sanctuary on Wednesday 25th May @ 11am

Wednesday 25th May 2011, 11am @ The Sanctuary Conference Centre, White Oaks Complex

In Conversation with Paul McFadden

Fr Neal Carlin

Fr Neal Carlin has for many years been actively involved in Peace and Reconciliation in the Northwest area.  As Director of the Columba Community, their outreach to the marginalised has had a great impact on community relations.

In the newly built Sanctuary Project, situated in the tranquil Donegal countryside, Paul Mc Fadden will conduct a relaxed armchair-style interview with Fr Carlin, bringing to life the work and achievements of the Columba Community over the past 30 years. To help mark this special 30 year anniversary the Columba Community will stage a special pageant on the 9th June through the streets of the City, which tells the story of Saint Columba. This is one of the many accomplishments that Fr Carlin will talk about during this hour with Paul, which will be followed by a question and answer session.

Please join us at The Sanctuary Conference Centre at 11am on Wednesday 25th May. This special event will be followed by tea/coffee and fresh scones at 12noon, and the chance to see our new residential facilities.

If you would like any other information contact the Sanctuary on (00353) 74 9384866 or email goldenagecentre@hotmail.com
