Capturing the Extent of the Voluntary Sector Cuts...
A new website has just been launched to capture information about the impact of funding cuts across all regions of the UK, including Northern Ireland.
Voluntary or community groups which have been told its statutory funding will be reduced, are asked to share their story by filling in a simple form which will ask how much funding was cut, where the funding came from and what activities will be affected.
The contribution of groups from NI will be crucial to building a complete picture of the scale of the challenge ahead in your community, your region, as well as nationally.
Visit www.voluntarysectorcuts.org.uk to tell your story. |

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Volunteers’ Week and recognise the European Year of Volunteering 2011, North West Volunteer Centre and Derry City Council’s Kickstart to Work programme will be hosting a Volunteer Fair at the Millennium Forum on Tuesday 7th June 2011.
Volunteers’ Week is a national campaign to celebrate volunteering, which takes place from 1 to 7 June each year. The Week focuses on the key themes of recognising and rewarding current volunteers and recruiting new volunteers by encouraging people to give volunteering a try. The Volunteer Fair will be the largest event showcasing volunteering in the North West of Ireland with up to 40 local groups promoting their activities and encouraging people to ‘volunteer…for a change’. Volunteers are motivated in many different ways however behind this is a real strong desire to make a significant impact on the lives of others.
The Volunteer Centre is now calling local voluntary/community organisations to register their interest in reserving a stall at the Volunteer Fair. The event at the Millennium Forum presents a fantastic opportunity to recruit new volunteers, promote projects and activities and find out what other groups are up to. Participation is free however promotional stalls at the event are limited.
Please contact Jacqueline or Geoff at the North West Volunteer Centre on tel. 028 7127 1017 or email geoff@volunteeringnorthwest.co.uk to request an Expression of Interest form or to find out more about this event. Completed forms must be returned before Friday 6th May 2011. |
