How
to become an Accredited Mediator Mediation is a
way of resolving dispute that can prevent the need for formal resolution
through a court process or through grievance procedures in workplace
disputes. In recent years the
use of mediators in neighbourhood disputes, divorce, custody and property
issues have significantly increased to the extent that there is a growing
demand for accredited mediators who are trained to an advanced
level. There is an
expectation from those who refer people to mediation that the mediators
are qualified to give a professional service to people caught up in
conflict. The Peace and
Reconciliation Group are offering an Advanced Mediators Open College
Network Accredited training course that will qualify you to become an
accredited mediator through an experiential learning process that will
allow you to work in many types of conflict. If you are
interested contact our offices for further
information. Peace &

It’s often not
the first instinct of men to seek someone to talk to in times of
difficulty or crisis and this can be particularly true when life
experiences get to a point where suicide becomes a real option in dealing
with a seemingly hopeless current or ongoing life
situation. Men’s Action
Network as a charity supports and promotes male health and wellbeing and
has for many years created safe spaces to talk with, hear, and support men
in such crisis. In an addition
to the professional counselling service currently on offer to men we are
seeking to develop a tier of support where men can come together as a
group to break isolation and share and support each other
around common experiences of feeling
suicidal. We would
particularly like to hear from men who would have gone through a suicidal
experience in the past and who now feel they have overcome or managed
their experience to a point were they are no longer suicidal and may feel
able to share their own experiences within a core group, facilitated by
MAN, which would meet initially once a month to help and support other men
going through similar experiences. If
you are a man over 18 who is open to the idea of helping in this way you
are invited to take part in a two day weekend residential on Friday and
Saturday 21st and 22nd Oct 2011 in the Waterfoot Hotel
where together we aim to explore how we might use our collective
experiences and expertise to take this process
forward. Facilitated by
professional counsellors the residential will

residential is funded by ESB ElectricAid It begins with

you would like to take part in the residential please contact Michael or

The Workers’
Educational Association has offered education projects catering
specifically for the needs of older learners aged 50+ for many years and
the Learning Age Project (LAP) is our latest programme funded by The
Atlantic Philanthropies. The Workers’
Educational Association has collaborated with Echo Echo Dance Theatre
Company over the years to create many wonderful dance projects together
and we are delighted to announce that “Body Wisdom” - a dance course with
a difference is now extending its programme with new funding from the BBC
Performing Arts Fund. “Body Wisdom” has run successfully over the past
three years with a beautiful performance “Mapping Memories” in April this
year. Body Wisdom is
a dance project designed specifically for those aged 50+ and rather than
age being against you in terms of movement, it is used to your advantage
to help inform the movement taking place. There are
places available for new participants and former experience in dance is
not necessary. You will be introduced to a wonderful creative movement
process that relies on “the wisdom of your body” rather than on any form
of athleticism. So are you
aged 50+ and interested in dance and movement? Maybe you are creative in
other ways and would like to extend your creativity into another area?
Maybe you just loved to dance when you were younger and are looking for a
new opportunity to dance once again. Maybe you have been put off by the
athleticism of younger dancers - then this is the project for you. The
process will be led by Steve Batts; who at 50 now terms himself as an
older dancer. Money from ACNI Lottery Project funding will go towards an
additional artist-teacher who will work alongside Steve to support the
project. There is no cost to participate. The new
funding from the BBC Performing Arts Fund will also offer the project the
opportunity to develop a new dance performance piece with an original
score written for the work.
So if you are interested in dance and movement, are over 50 and
want to experience a wonderful creative process then this is the project
for you.
The project
will run on Fridays mornings at the new Echo Echo Dance Studio at 13,
