“A Whole Handling at Hanna’s House”
Greater Shantallow Community Arts cordially invites you to be our guest at the World Premier of “A Whole Handling at Hanna’s House”
This Friday Night will see the world premier of Liam O Reilly’s debut play “A Whole Handling at Hanna’s House” brought to stage by Derry’s newest emerging and most innovative performers as Here We Go Theatre Company in association with Greater Shantallow Community Arts take to the stage at the ARC Centre Bloomfield and bring to life the Derry’s own answers to Mrs Brown,
They say crime doesn’t pay. – It did for the Harding’s. – But now, its judgement day.
In this modern day story of Irish family life. Always expect the unexpected. The most important thing to the Harding family is the family itself. They see themselves as a sort of Derry mafia with a heritage stretching back to the nineteen sixties and the late patriarch of the family, ‘the gasman’. The story revolves around a crisis in the family; a crisis created by the youngest child, Morgan, who believes that the family is conducting their business in an unsuitable way and wants changes. Morgan’s revelation that he wants the family to change comes at the same time that the new parish priest announces that he intends to visit them. The family attempt to conceal their business from the priest, while at the same time they hope to somehow make money from the priest’s visit, whatever it takes. What follows is a battle of wits between the visitor and the visited as the priest slowly strips away the respectable facade of the family.
This fascinating and humorous new work production will have audiences laughing in the aisles and identifying with the dysfunctional family unit that dwells at “Hanna’s House”.
A Whole Handling at Hanna’s House will be performed at the ARC Centre Bloomfield on Friday 1st & Saturday 2nd April with curtain up at 8pm, admission is free and everyone is welcome, this production is supported by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland as part of Greater Shantallow Community Arts, Art Reaching Communities Programme.
We hope that you can join us there and support the development of Arts at the heart of our communities here in the City of Culture. |
